The metaverse is a shared three-dimensional virtual space that gives people the chance to interact with one another.
Seeking to experiment with digital art inside a virtual, collaborative space accessible over the internet, Ygor Marotta joined the organization of Pupila Dilatada, a collective of psychedelic digital art. Working alongside other artists and developers, they created the second (2021) and third (2022) editions of the psychedelic digital art show, held virtually inside the metaverse. Ygor took on the role of artist and curator, and was also responsible for the show's visual identity.
For each edition, five maps were built to host more than 60 artworks. Each opening featured live broadcasts with musicians and VJs in expanded audiovisual performances.
In 2022, in collaboration with Paulo Stoker and Dr. Hanna Accioly, he developed Museu Virtual Origens, the first Afro-Indigenous museum to use the metaverse, a collaborative and emancipatory space that tells the history of the Itaparica people, asserting their right to memory and the historical equality of Indigenous, African and Afro-Brazilian peoples.

To build the historical context of Itaparica, the many founding origins of the territory were considered, namely: Indigenous, African, Afro-Brazilian and Portuguese peoples. This interactive metaverse space was created to engage with the insurgence and permanence of Indigenous, African and Afro-Brazilian peoples in the territory, asserting the right to safeguard their memory from a decolonial perspective, celebrating the ancestry that affirms our origins.
Conceived by Dr. Rosângela Accioly, the metaverse space was developed by Ygor Marotta and Paulo Stoker in direct dialogue with the community of Itaparica.

In 2022 the third edition of Pupila Dilatada took place.
Works by more than 70 Brazilian and international artists are presented in a metaverse with five different spaces. A journey that begins aboard our spaceship, reaches an uncanny marketplace, enters a lysergic cave, crosses into a hallucinogenic backyard and climbs a transcendental mountain, from where you can catch a bio-ship ride back to our mothership.
