Pássaro
Pássaro is the name of the music project by Ygor Marotta, Irû Waves and Tomás Xavier. The trio develops a singular language moving between regional cultures and new technologies. Navigating a psychedelic sound, they build an atmosphere that joins elements of the Brazilian imaginary with instruments such as fifes, kalimbas, agogô and drums alongside analog and digital synthesizers.
In 2019, when the group came together, the artists met in São Paulo for sessions of sonic and visual improvisation. Out of this experimental process the trio formed and independently produced its first release, the EP “Pássaro Encantado”, released on digital platforms in late 2019 by the label Shika Shika.
In 2022, Pássaro presents its new work: “Antes de Existir o Mundo”. Produced in a hybrid way over the past three years, the album features five original tracks composed across a flow of virtual and in-person meetings, sometimes in the city, sometimes in nature. "Antes de Existir o Mundo" also includes two remixes, by the Brazilian producer Psilosamples and the English producer El Búho.

Released in November 2022 on digital platforms and distributed worldwide on vinyl. The record is a limited run of 500 copies in turquoise blue.
The cover art is by the visual artist microdosys who works with generative art through neural networks and artificial intelligence. The artwork is available for purchase in digital form as an NFT and includes the right to a copy of the physical record. The album's title track also has a music video produced by the artist.

Pássaro also released the album in a virtual version, living inside a metaverse. The work "Toca vinil antes do mundo", created by the artist KOSHA, was modelled and animated in 3D to play the album virtually during the third edition of Pupila Dilatada, a physical and virtual exhibition of psychedelic digital art.

Pássaro Encantado

The trio's debut EP, Pássaro Encantado, was recorded during a three-day improvisation session at Ygor Marotta's studio in São Paulo. Its sound is like a psychedelic walk through the tropical jungle, a mysterious and enchanting journey, at once captivating and experimental, pop and psychedelic, natural and synthesized. Traditional Brazilian influences blend with vibrant electronic flutes and spacey synthesizers. The five tracks appear in the order they were created: the energy and singular moment of those improvisation sessions at Marotta's studio are perfectly imprinted in the soul of this music.
Recorded by Pássaro between April 30 and May 2, 2019, at the VJ Suave studio in São Paulo.
All tracks mixed and produced by Pássaro
except "Assum Preto" & "Rio", mixed in collaboration with Psilosamples.
